This document outlines the various employment related supports to help people with disabilities gain or retain employment.

Employment related supports to help people with disabilities gain or retain employment are now also available through FÁS. These are:

Job Interview Interpreter Grant

A person with a hearing or speech impairment, who is seeking employment, may benefit from having an interpreter at job interviews. If they wish, they may apply to have an interpreter and FÁS will make a payment towards the cost.

Training Grants for Disability Awareness in Employment

Employers in Ireland that provide disability awareness training for their staff may be able to apply for grant aid towards the cost of this training. Disability awareness aims to provide the best possible customer service to clients and customers and promotes the employability of disabled people by creating work environments that are open and welcoming to all staff.

Personal Readers Grant

If you are blind or visually impaired and require assistance with job-related reading, you may be entitled to a grant to allow you to employ a personal reader

If you are blind or visually impaired and require assistance with job-related reading, you may be entitled to a grant to allow you to employ a personal reader. FÁS will normally pay an hourly fee. It will be paid on a short-term basis, up to a maximum of  640 hours per annum.

Job Interview Interpreters Grant

A person actively seeking employment who has a hearing or speech impairment can apply for funding to have an interpreter present at job interviews

FÁS has responsibility for providing labour market services for disabled people, assisting with finding paid employment or preparing for employment through a training or employment programme.

 If you are a jobseeker who is deaf, hard of hearing or has a speech impairment and are attending job interviews, you may apply for funding to have a sign language interpreter or other interpreter to attend the interview with you. Funding can also be provided to cover the costs of an interpreter during an induction period when you start work.
